Foster + Partners
Foster+Partners is one of the most innovative architectural and integrated design studios in the world. Since its founding in 1967, the studio promoted a sustainable approach to architecture, with a wide variety of projects including urban planning, public infrastructure, airports, civic and cultural buildings, offices and workplaces, private houses and product design. Its architects and engineers combine their knowledge to develop integrated solutions for sustainable design by working together creatively from the project’s beginning. Foster+Partners and Molteni&C deal with each project eclectically through the use of innovative materials and technologies such as the Arc table with its lightweight concrete base, or the Teso coffee table where the production technique was totally reinvented.

MAINTENANCE OF LACQUERED STRUCTURE
In order to maintain the aesthetic characteristics of these finishes over time and avoid rust, regular, methodical and meticulous cleaning is necessary. For everyday maintenance, dust with a soft dry cloth. For greasy oily marks (fingerprints) we advise cleaning the surfaces with normal liquid detergents for glass. Products containing solvents and/or alcohol and hard fibre cloths (linen and synthetics) should be avoided, as they could ruin and or scratch surfaces.
MAINTENANCE OF MARBLE TOPS
As regards normal maintenance, dust and dry residues, use a soft cloth. For stubborn dry dirt (dust which has penetrated into the porosity) it is advisable to use a close-knitted or a spongy cloth, slightly dampened with warm water and well wrung out. Clean by following the vein of the surface without applying too much pressure. As for both greasy and oily marks (fingerprints) it is recommended to treat the surfaces with a small sponge dampened with water and washing-up liquid. Afterwards go over the surfaces once again as described above. Products which contain solvents and/or methylated spirits as well as cloths with rigid fibres (linen and synthetic fibres) are to be avoided as these may ruin the varnish. Given the kind of treatment it is important to immediately remove stains following the above described procedures.

White Carrara MarbleWhite marble from Carrara (the ancient Romans called it marmor lunensis,
“marble from Luni”, an ancient city in the area) is a type of marble extracted from
the quarries in the Apuan Alps, in the province of Carrara, Italy. It is known worldwide as
one of the finest qualities. Carrara White has a homogeneous basic composition
with brilliant granules that range in colour from white to grey with smoky greyish
veins running though the rock discontinuously. This material lightens as time passes
because it loses water that it had absorbed and accumulated. The presence
of tiny imperfections, such as microscopic holes and crystalline inclusions, are
characteristics of natural origin and the signature feature of Carrara marble. Every slab is unique and can never be found twice.
