Designer
Ron Gilad
Ron Gilad was born in Tel Aviv in 1972. After a few years in New York, he lives and works in Tel Aviv and Milan. Ron Gilad’s hybrid objects combine a practical ingenuity with an aesthetic effect which and are placed on a boundary between the abstract and functional. When he was asked to collaborate with Molteni&C, Ron Gilad initially wondered if he should behave as a designer or just be himself in the most authentic way. He found his answer by creating a connection between his more abstract and artistic ideas and commercial industry mechanisms and converting them into ingenious design products.

- Product maintenance
MAINTENANCE OF WOODEN, MATT LACQUERED AND GLASS PARTS
For everyday maintenance dust with a soft dry cloth. For greasy, oily marks (fingerprints) we advise cleaning the surface with alcohol diluted in water, drying immediately with a soft cloth. For glass, specific products readily available on the market can be used. Products containing acetone, bleach and solvents should be avoided, as should abrasive products, furniture wax and hard fibre cloths (linen and synthetics) which could ruin and/or scratch surfaces. All these operations should be carried out with great care, avoiding heavy pressure. Exposure to direct sunlight can alter the paint and wood colour.
MAINTENANCE OF MARBLE
As regards normal maintenance, dust and dry residues, use a soft cloth. For stubborn dry dirt (dust which has penetrated into the porosity) it is advisable to use a close-knitted or a spongy cloth, slightly dampened with warm water and well wrung out. Clean by following the vein of the surface without applying too much pressure. As for both greasy and oily marks (fingerprints) it is recommended to treat the surfaces with a small sponge dampened with water and washing-up liquid. Afterwards go over the surfaces once again as described above. Products which contain solvents and/or methylated spirits as well as cloths with rigid fibres (linen and synthetic fibres) are to be avoided as these may ruin the varnish. Given the kind of treatment it is important to immediately remove stains following the above described procedures.
MAINTENANCE OF METAL PARTS (ANODISED ALUMINIUM/CHROME METALS, PAINTED METALS)
In order to maintain the aesthetic characteristics of these finishes over time and avoid rust, regular, methodical and meticulous cleaning is necessary. For everyday maintenance, dust with a soft dry cloth. For greasy oily marks (fingerprints) we advise cleaning the surfaces with normal liquid detergents for glass. Products containing solvents and/or alcohol and hard fibre cloths (linen and synthetics) should be avoided, as they could ruin and/or scratch surfaces. For the chrome metal finish, treat the surface once a month with specific products for cleaning/polishing metals.

Calacatta Gold marble
Calacatta Gold is a fine sought-after marble quarried in the basin of the ApuanAlps (Carrara, Italy). Buttery white background with elegant amber yellow and golden veins in shades ranging from tones of brown to various hues of grey and green. Every slab is unique and can never be found twice, the veins vary in intensity and colour shades, alternating with white spaces of differing sizes producing a pebble effect. Calacatta Oro is a sandy sedimentary type of marble. Its structure consists of white crystalline limestone with irregular inclusions of various types of crystals and grey stones,
in addition to a widespread presence of pyrites in various colours. Surface fissures are natural characteristics of the marble, usually treated with resins.
