TEAK

Teak is a compact hardwood from tropical and subtropical forests in south and south-east Asia. It features a warm yellow to burnished hue enhanced by red nuances, which enliven it and make it soft to the eye. It is the outdoor wood par excellence, a longstanding choice in the nautical industry, confirming its resistance to water and extreme
weather. Due to its ability to withstand temperature fluctuations and humidity, its greatest expression is found when used as solid wood to create refined woodworking details.

EVA POLYURETHANE WEAVING

The weaving on the back the Landmark Collection and the baskets can be made of EVA polyurethane. This plastic material combines performance and a pleasant feel. Velvety smooth to the touch, reminiscent of hide leather, its high elasticity makes it flexible yet structural, capable of yielding single-material baskets devoid of internal support elements. A high resistance to water, salt spray, and UV radiation make the olive green colour stable, matching the colour palette of the two collections.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR TEAK AND EVA

Cleaning should be done preferably under cloudy skies or in the shade. Ensure that the furniture is cool before starting. Do not use abrasive sponges, steel brushes, or abrasive/caustic cleansers. Do not use steam cleaners or pressure washers. Always try to remove food residue or spilled drinks, fallen leaves, berries, flowers, and bird droppings as soon as possible to prevent stains and mould.

STORAGE FOR TEAK AND EVA

Carefully clean items before storing them. Make sure the product is perfectly dry. Store in a dry, unheated, ventilated room, and never use airtight plastic covers.

Vincent Van Duysen was born in 1962, in Lokeren, Belgium and graduated in architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas, in Ghent. From 1986 to 1989 he worked in Milan and Brussels. He opened his own studio in Antwerp, in 1990 focusing on architecture and interior design. The relationship between interior design and architecture in his work is profound. Furnishings and accessories are designed with an architectural perspective that is not limited by form, but is expressed with a careful perception of interior space and its relationship to the exterior architecture. By interpreting architecture and redefining its proportions, Van Duysen creates objects of great purity and simplicity that still retain a concrete character and solid form.

Design Vincent Van Duysen

Part of the Landmark Collection, the Palinfrasca Sofa by Vincent Van Duysen recalls a vintage motif imagined by Molteni&C designer Luca Meda in the late 1970's. The gently curved structure made from solid teak and stainless-steel supports interwoven teak bands in a dynamic and fluid element. The sofa's seat and cushions are crafted from recyclable waterproof polyester fiber in a comfortable weave designed to withstand outdoor temperatures and weather conditions. A mainstay for outdoor living, this elegant sofa is best paired with additional elements in the Palinfrasca line.
